Data Sync Manager ''System Builder''

Avoid costly updates to the test system

Quickly and easily create a new system shell with System Builder or Shell Sync

System Builder

Whether you're creating a new sandbox, training system, or aligning non-production repositories with the production system, the process typically demands significant time, effort, and resources. This includes managing storage space and meticulously handling transports. However, with System Builder, everything changes!

Shell Builder

Introducing Shell Sync™, the next-generation successor to our System Builder tool, specially designed for systems with new S/4HANA releases.

Shell Sync leverages HANA-specific technology to synchronize the existing system with an export of the production system. It extracts repository and client-independent data from the source system in a proprietary format and imports it into the target system to update the HANA database. During this process, the shell is replaced, and all client-dependent data is purged simultaneously. Following this synchronization, you can utilize Client Sync to populate the system with client-dependent data.

New, “clean” system shell

Whether you're creating a new sandbox, training system, or aligning non-production repositories with the production system, the process typically demands significant time, effort, and resources. This includes managing storage space and meticulously handling transports. However, with System Builder, everything changes!

Introducing a new, “clean” system shell: whether you’re utilizing System Builder for older SAP releases or Shell Sync for S/4HANA, the benefits of providing a system shell with minimal memory requirements are evident.

With System Builder, you can effortlessly create a new non-production system shell featuring clients 000 (inclusive of basic client-specific customizations provided by SAP for new clients), 066 (utilized by SAP for support purposes), and optionally 001 (a customization copy of client 000). This can be accomplished using SAP’s standard tools, such as SAPinst. Alternatively, Shell Sync offers a unique solution for S/4HANA systems, leveraging HANA database technology to align the repository of the current non-production system with that of production, while simultaneously purging outdated test/sandbox clients.

The resultant new system shell is synchronized with the production system, serving as the ideal target system for Client Sync. From there, Object Sync can be utilized to incorporate relevant data for your specific needs, such as training or testing purposes. This streamlined approach results in a system with reduced storage space and up-to-date data, ideal for SLO projects and beyond.

The benefits for your SAP system are substantial with both System Builder and ShellSync:

System Builder:

1. Reduced Storage Space: Create a new SAP system shell that requires only a fraction of the storage space of a full copy, optimizing resource utilization.

2. Efficient Repository Export: Export your system’s complete repository quickly, leveraging performance-enhancing techniques such as parallel processing and table splitting if necessary, ensuring rapid execution.

3. Ready-to-Use Shell: Add clients 000 and 066, and optionally 001, resulting in a system shell that is ready to use, minimizing setup time and effort.

4. Consistent Configuration: Ensure that the repository objects and cross-client configuration of the new system align with the production system, maintaining consistency and integrity.

5. Data Addition Flexibility: Easily add current data using Client Sync or Object Sync, enabling seamless integration of up-to-date information.

6. Compatibility with Production Versions: Utilize the program versions used in the production system for testing or training purposes, enhancing compatibility and reliability.

7. Versatile Usage: System Builder can be purchased and used independently of SAP client copies, providing flexibility and adaptability to various scenarios.

ShellSync:

1. Efficient Repository Alignment: Quickly align the repository of the existing test/sandbox system to production, minimizing downtime and disruption.

2. No Uninstallation Required: Avoid the need for uninstallation or complete system copy, streamlining the process and saving time.

3. Ready-to-Use Shell: Retain client 000 while deleting all other clients, resulting in a system shell that is immediately usable, enhancing efficiency.

4. Consistent Configuration: Ensure that the repository objects and cross-client configuration of the system match those of the production system, maintaining consistency and reliability.

5. Data Addition Flexibility: Seamlessly add current data using Client Sync or Object Sync, facilitating integration of relevant information.

6. Compatibility with Production Versions: Utilize the program versions used in the production system for testing or training purposes, ensuring compatibility and reliability.
